Reds Get Super Hero Help From ‘Super Red’
x The way the Reds have been playing lately, it looks like they need a super hero.
And they’ll have one when they face their arch-enemy, the St. Louis Cardinals, at Great American Ballpark this weekend.
The Reds have dubbed this weekend’s series “Super Hero Weekend.” The idea was spawned by a 7-year-old Kennedy Daigle.
By day, Kennedy is a mild-mannered student who excels in reading and math. But his alter ego is anything but ordinary.
“I’m Super Red,” Kennedy says, dressed all in red and wearing a mask and cape.
“I’m trying to sponsor the Reds; and then the Reds do really good when I’m here,” Kennedy says.
The Reds are definitely inspired by Kennedy, even creating their own super hero-themed cartoons to help promote this weekend’s event.
Kennedy’s mom says he loves the attention.
“People come up, they want to take a picture with him. They think it’s really good because they see he’s excited,” says Tiffany Daigle.
And it’s not just the fans. The Reds themselves are big fans and many of them have taken their picture with Super Red.
As part of Super Hero Weekend, the Reds will have super hero-themed fireworks on Friday night. On Saturday, the team will give out 30,000 action figures.
And on Sunday, the first 10,000 people will get capes, so they can be just like Kennedy.
