Princess Diaries’ Heather Matarazzo, Girlfriend Plan to Wed in New York

The Princess Diaries star Heather Matarazzo plans to marry longtime girlfriend Caroline Murphy in New York, The Associated Press reports.

“My eyes and spirit have opened up since I found someone that I get to share my life with,” Matarazzo says of Murphy.

The couple has been engaged for three years and originally planned to wed in California until Proposition 8 overturned the state Supreme Court’s same-sex marriage ruling. New York became the sixth and so far largest state to legalize same-sex marriage last month; the law took effect Sunday, but Matarazzo, 28, and Murphy were in no rush.

“I always wanted a wedding,” Murphy says. “Not a trip to city hall.”

The pair is now planning a fall or spring wedding with more than 200 guests. Matarazzo, who plays Sadie Atkins in the upcoming film Manson Girls, wants to wear an off-white dress, while Murphy, a recording artist, will likely wear a white pants suit, “but a sexy one.”

After marrying, the couple hopes to start a family. “We’ve always talked that Caroline would have a child first, and then I will go,” Matarazzo says, adding that they want to adopt afterward.
