Meryl Streep receives lifetime achievement award from Jake Gyllenhaal

has been awarded the Golden Bear lifetime achievement award at the Berlin Film Festival.

The Iron Lady actress was handed the prize by – a member of the festival’s 2012 jury – during a special ceremony at Berlinale Palace on Tuesday.

Streep had previously been handed several presents earlier in the day at a press conference, including a Russian doll from one reporter, while another gave her a large bouquet of flowers.

Skrillex, Jay-Z, Black Keys Up for Woodie Awards

MTV has announced the nominees for the 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards. Skrillex, Kanye West and Jay-Z, The Black Keys, Mac Miller, M83, and Cloud Nothings are among those up for awards, which include Woodie of the Year, Performing Woodie, Best Video, Breaking Woodie, and the new dance-oriented category EDM Effect Woodie.

The Woodies, the MTV college-campus station’s fan-voted annual awards show, will return to South by Southwest in Austin, Tex., and will extend to a daylong festival this year. The celebration, open to all SXSW badge holders, will kick off March 15 at 1 pm CT and will culminate in the awards ceremony.

Fans can stay involved by catching the “best of” the Woodies on MTV and mtvU on March 18 and voting for their favorite nominated artists on the Woodies website.

2012 New Orleans Jazz Fest releases daily schedule

Producers of the 2012 New Orleans Jazz Fest released the festival’s daily schedule today. In addition to revealing who is performing on what day, the schedule includes several dozen names not contained on the original talent release. Those names include Mystikal and, most prominently,  Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band.

Toddler’s Cuss Word on ‘Modern Family’ Draws Ire

LOS ANGELES — An anti-profanity crusader on Tuesday asked ABC to pull this weeks Modern Family episode in which a toddler appears to use a bleeped curse word.

Our main goal is to stop this from happening, said McKay Hatch, an 18-year-old college student who founded the No Cussing Club in 2007. If we dont, at least ABC knows that people all over the world dont want to have a 2-year-old saying the F-bomb on TV.

We hope they know better, said Hatch. Hes asking his clubs members, whom he said number 35,000 in the United States and about three-dozen other countries, to complain to ABC.

Kenneth Lonergan’s “Margaret” was filmed several years ago, released quietly in 2011, but was championed for kudos by some critics and a Twitter campaign. Ongoing litigation keeps the writer-director from discussing the cut he worked on with Martin Scorsese, but he remains enthusiastic about the version that played. He spoke to Variety’s Christy Grosz from New York — with his lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, monitoring.

Grosz: Did you write the script intending to direct it?

Angelina Jolie: ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey cast taught me a lot’

has revealed that she learned a lot from the cast of her directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey.

Jolie recently told reporters that she never considered starring in In the Land of Blood and Honey because she felt that Bosnian actors were far more qualified for the real-life war story.

“As an American actor, I don’t have the depth of emotion and understanding and the commitment to art and the ability that people have from this region of the world,” Jolie commented, according to Cinema Blend. Full Article…
