SIR ELTON JOHN raised more than $2 million for his AIDS charity by throwing a star-studded gala in New York on Wednesday night (26Oct11).
The singer hosted his 10th annual Enduring Vision event at Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan to raise money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, and stars including Alec Baldwin, Jon Bon Jovi, Kelly Rutherford and Sarah Ferguson turned out in support.
New York governor Andrew Cuomo was also in attendance, and Sir Elton took the opportunity to thank him for the state’s recent recognition of gay marriage, praising the politician for “taking a stand in New York and making the dream of marriage equality a reality in the state,” according to the Press Association.
The evening included a performance by Smokey Robinson and raised more than $2 million for Sir Elton’s charity.

After missing her first day of community service at the Los Angeles County morgue, actress Lindsay Lohan gets a second chance to appear on time Friday.
“Lindsay arrived at the morgue approximately 20 minutes late and will be returning for orientation tomorrow,” said her publicist Steven Honig Thursday.
Just a day earlier, a judge rebuked Lohan for similar failures, revoked her probation and forced her to post $100,000 bail.
“Her lateness was due to a combination of not knowing what entrance to go through and confusion caused by the media waiting for her arrival,” Honig said in a statement. Full Article…

A Boston University grad is making a name for himself.
Parker Cote was just named one of Cosmopolitan’s hottest bachelors of 2011.
The 24-year-old professional model, who graduated cum laude with a degree in Psychology, was picked to represent Massachusetts in this year’s issue.
Representing New Hampshire is 25-year-old Nate Kimball, a personal trainer from Lebanon, NH.

This weekend, Alec Baldwin became the first person to host “Saturday Night Live” 16 times, notes New York Magazine.
Baldwin made sure to mention his new record during his monologue opening Saturday’s show. The “30 Rock” star kicked off “SNL”‘s 37th season.
Hosting rival Steve Martin stopped by with Seth Rogen to make sure Alec broke the hosting record “without the use of steroids or performance enhancing drugs.”
Before Saturday, Martin and Baldwin were tied for the title of most frequent host, with each having hosted 15 times.

NEW YORK (AP) – CBS says commentator Andy Rooney will make his final weekly “60 Minutes” appearance on this Sunday’s edition.
The 92-year-old Rooney will announce his departure in his regular essay at the end of the program, where he has been featured since 1978.
This, his 1,097th original essay for the program, will be preceded by a segment in which Rooney looks back on his career with “60 Minutes” correspondent Morley Safer, CBS said Tuesday.
Rooney began his run on “60 Minutes” in July 1978 with an essay about the reporting of automobile fatalities on the Independence Day weekend.
He became a regular contributor that fall, delivering sometimes folksy, sometimes cranky commentaries on ordinary life.

Another local show has been rescheduled due to Hurricane Irene.
The Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, featuring acts like Seether, Avenged Sevenfold and Escape The Fate, was scheduled to take place Sunday night at the Comcast Center in Mansfield.
The show will now go on Tuesday, Aug. 30.
Those who cant attend the concert can get a refund wherever they bought the tickets.
The storm also prompted Kenney Chesney to move Sunday nights concert at Gillette Stadium to Friday night.
